Apologies for the lack of updates, but technology (i.e. laptops) will inevitably always fail us. Anywho, I'm back.
Snoop Dogg is a rapper I can take or leave, but my God, when his songs hit they hit hard like your on a collision course with a wall of charging titanium rhinos. Since the vocoderised Florida cream of "Sexual Eruption" things have been a tad quiet, a situation his new song "Millionaire" rectifies in significantly abrupt style. Following on from Lil' Wayne's twisted experimentations with dubstep on last year's supremely weird "Yes", "Millionaire" sees the Dogg go straight to the source and team up with British dubstep duo Chase & Status to create a claustrophobic, monolithic beast of a banger that drags a Bollywood influenced vocal underwater and then proceeds to bury and crush it's sinewy grooves under dense waves of reverbing bass distortion whilst Snoop groans and bellows like the uprising of Mecha-Jeezy the destructor. In fact after this and "Yes" the only thing that would make things better would be if Jeezy jumped on one of these dubstep styled tracks. Just imagine...
Snoop Dogg Millionaire - Snoop Dogg Feat. Tanvi Shah
Another season, another localised hip hop mutation. This time coming straight out of L.A., jerkin. Based around a dance movement, of course, kids harking back to the 80s skate and graffiti culture that was once so intrinsic to hip hop wear colourful t shirts and skinny jeans and "jerk" to the minimal sounds of the slightly slowed down hyphy tracks being made by a small group of Cali artists, all fidgeting beats and finger snaps and endearingly bad tin-can vocal recordings. It's deceptively simple, but addictive like jitter bugs under the skin.
This is the anthem...

And these girls should hook up with Electrik Red immediately and become this millennium's En Vogue/Salt N' Pepa feist-fest.
